Education Specialist - Outside Sales 

This is a remotely based position based in Dallas , TX but we would consider other locations based upon experience 

 

Job Summary: Develop and work a territory plan via quantitative and qualitative analysis of territory needs and opportunities including: market analysis, customer/prospect research and competitive analysis.

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Engage with customers and prospects proactively and provocatively with a strategic "consultative" and "trusted advisor" approach that results in addressing a school's mission, goals, and needs
  • Develop and present compelling benefits, customer success stories, and value propositions using appropriate communication mediums (phone, web-presentations, face-to-face, email, social media, etc.)
  • Offer unique perspectives and insights regarding the customer's needs and issues, tailoring ways to address those issues, and aligning solution's value to the customer's strategic vision and mission
  • Have, or aspires to learn, high-level skills in advocacy of professional development and online curriculum solutions for schools
  • Collaborate closely with sales, customer service, marketing, finance, management, and assumes primary responsibility for sales and revenue growth, and exceeding sales forecasts and quotas in assigned accounts or territory
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively communicate, and proven success in selling to education institutions, churches, non-profits, or highly mission driven organizations
  • Superior relationship management & communication skills
  • Ability to monitor, manage and achieve critical metrics; qualified leads, YOY customer growth, quota achievement, forecast accuracy, pipeline built to sustain growth
  • Ability to understand customer's budgetary and funding process, procurement process, decision making process, approval process, including the key players and the timing, and keep knowledge current
  • Naturally inquisitive and excellent listener, with ability to uncover customer aspirations, pain points, and needs
  • Ability to provide solutions that are highly creative and to exercise independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

 

Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years of field sales experience and/or 2+ years of experience working in education with a strong desire to become a sales professional    
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • Previous experience selling an online curriculum, learning management system, or education software preferred

 

Work Environment/ Physical Demands: 

  • May be sitting for periods of 3-4 hours at a time
  • Work involves extended periods of computer use
  • Ability to travel an average of 30%-40% annually to customer sites, internal meetings and/or events (regionally within multi-state territory, with some national travel)
